Year 4 Homework

This term’s main homework is to complete a Roman project at home. This can be presented in a variety of ways such as: as an information book, as a PowerPoint presentation or as a model. It can be as individual as you like.

Your child may wish to focus on one area of Roman life such as their buildings, temples, weapons, Gods and beliefs, gladiators and festivals or food and drink or they can choose to focus on lots of areas together.

Please could we ask that the project is returned to school by Monday 20th November.

In addition to this, your child will also be receiving mini-maths activities twice a week, as well as weekly spellings, times tables practice and regular reading at home.

Mini Maths: this will be a quick maths activity which should take between 10-15 minutes to complete and will need to be returned to school the day after it is set. Mini Maths tasks will be sent home every Monday and Tuesday.

Spellings: Around 10-15 spelling words will be sent home every Friday for the children to learn. They will be tested on these words the following Friday.

Reading: The children are expected to read at least 4 times per week. Please sign / initial the reading diaries each week as we check this before allowing the children to move along The Reading Race chart.

Please don’t worry if your child occasionally forgets or doesn’t get a chance to do an activity. We understand that the children have a life outside of school and we will always give the children extra time if they have a genuine reason for not completing a task. However, children who regularly fail to complete homework tasks may be asked to complete them during a lunchtime.

If you have any queries regarding homework or anything else, please feel free to pop in at the beginning or end of the school day and talk to the discuss matters with the class teachers.
